Treescapes
Woodland has always been a fascination of mine and I have drawn and painted trees all my life.
Here are some examples of the type of paintings that they have inspired me to produce. My style is constantly evolving and the work is now becoming more abstracted.

Glen Lyn Gorge
This is an amazing place! The River Lyn hurtles down through the gorge producing hydro-electric power for the villages of Lynton and Lynmouth. There are paths where you can walk up through the gorge which reach down to the waterside in places where you can view the water cascading over the rocks and swirling around in calm pools before the next stage of their descent. Dippers and wagtails abound, and the occasional freshwater swimmer – I imagine the water is icy-cold at any time of the year! The paintings here are the results of several visits to the area where I became fascinated by the patterns in the water.

Landscape and Townscape
The paintings here are a selection from many years traveling and are taken from note book studies and many, many photographs. Digital photography has revolutionised the way we record and perceive the world in which we live.

Rivers and Canals
Although these days I live in Northamptonshire, a town in the very centre of England it is a very wet county with many reservoirs, gravel pits, lakes, canals and rivers. For a while we owned a narrow boat which gave an insight into the modern tranquility of the canal system that once was the superhighway for goods transportation.

Nature
Walking dogs every day brings me into contact with nature. Occasionally very close when they proudly bring their latest “find” for my inspection. For 25 years the woodland around Delapre Park has been our daily route and is a very varied landscape which never tires.

Music inspired
These paintings are a recent departure from my usual subject matter and one to which I shall certainly return again. I have tried to capture the sound and atmosphere of the performance.
